A trip to the dentist can cause anxiety for some patients.

If you feel nervous about any aspect of your visit to Shawlands Dental Care, rest assured that our team is trained to help make your visit as comfortable as possible.

Nervous patients are often described as having a dental phobia which is a valid condition and can be treated with a modified approach to dental treatment.

When should I tell my dentist I’m anxious?

You can tell us at any time, but we recommend you mention it at your initial consultation, so we can discuss options to help you overcome your anxiety. Every patient is unique, and we want to help you have a pleasant dental experience.

We will be supportive and work at your pace, always explaining the treatment and how it will progress.

What can I do to be less anxious?

  • Arrive at your appointment early
  • Wear headphones during the treatment
  • Bring a friend or family member for moral support
  • Discuss sedation options with your dentist
  • Structure your appointments in a way that is manageable for you

If you are nervous about visiting the dentist, please contact us on 0141 632 1378 with any concerns about your appointment. We will do our best to put your mind at ease in preparation for your visit.
