BOOK AN APPOINTMENTAn advanced dental implant procedure could be perfect for you if you have lost most or all your natural teeth.
The dental implant procedure involves attaching a full arch of prosthetic teeth to four or six dental implants, providing a permanent alternative to dentures.
Placing implants in the jaw at certain angles allows your dentist to support an entire bridge of beautiful, high-quality replacement teeth with a small number of implants, rather than using a single implant for each tooth.
Patients who have been turned down for dental implants in the past may be suitable candidates for Same-Day Teeth because these implants are placed toward the front of the mouth in denser bone.
You can receive your new teeth on the same day as your initial implant fitting. Once your implants have been placed, your dentist will attach a provisional bridge, restoring your smile and chewing functionality.
Several months later, once your implants have fully healed, you will attend a follow-up appointment to have your temporary bridge swapped out for a permanent one.
CALL USThere are several different steps involved in the dental implant process, and it starts with your initial consultation.
This is your chance to discuss your hopes and concerns about the procedure, and you’re your dentist to assess your suitability. They’ll also be able to determine whether or not you need any additional treatments, such as jawbone preparation (bone graft surgery).
If you do need any additional treatments to prepare for dental implants, you’ll need to be fully healed and recovered before you can undergo implant placement.
Our dentists do this by making a small cut in your gum to expose the bone underneath and drilling a hole into the bone where the titanium post will sit.
Your gum will then be closed with stitches if you need them, but not everyone does.
If you opt for same-day smile implants, your new teeth will be restored the same day, but usually, your gums and bone will need time to heal before the abutment is attached. This can take anywhere between 6-12 weeks.
Once you’ve fully healed, your replacement tooth (or teeth) can be fitted, which are custom-made to match the shape and colour of your remaining natural teeth.
Finally, we’ll provide all the necessary aftercare advice and get you booked in for a follow-up appointment to see how you’re getting on with your new smile!
The dental implant procedure, for some, sounds incredibly daunting. Especially those who already suffer from dental anxiety.
But you shouldn’t let this stop you from achieving your dream smile.
Here at Shawlands Dental Care, we have many tried and tested methods to help you feel much calmer and more comfortable during your treatment – including IV sedation.
IV sedation makes it so that you’re unaware of the treatment, sending you into a sleep-like state so that you don’t feel any pain or discomfort associated with the procedure.
It’s completely safe to use, and our experts are trained to care for sedated patients to ensure ultimate comfort and safety.

Want to know more about dental implants in Glasgow? Ready to book a consultation with our expert dentists?
We’re here for you!
To get in touch, call 0141 632 1378 or email [email protected] and we’ll be in touch with more information about the incredible All-on-4® and All-on-6® Same-Day Teeth method, or to arrange your appointment.
Absolutely!
One of the main reasons people choose All-on-4 or All-on-6 dental implants in Glasgow – sometimes referred to as smile in a day or same-day teeth – is because they can replace broken or missing teeth within a day.
Usually carried out under local anaesthetic or dental sedation, the affected teeth will be replaced with four to six dental implants – within 24 hours in most cases.
However, there are rare circumstances in which treatment can’t be completed within just one dental visit – as sometimes, bone loss in the jaw means that implants won't have the support they need.
In this case, a temporary denture may be placed. They won't be attached to the implant, and the bridge can be fitted a few months later once the implants have fully fused with the jawbone.
It’s important to note that, no matter what, you won’t leave the practice with your permanent teeth. Even if you have sufficient bone density, you’ll leave with temporary, custom-fitted bridges and have your final ones fitted around four months later.
The same-day teeth treatment itself shouldn’t cause any extreme pain – thanks to the local anaesthetic we use to numb the area before treatment commences.
For particularly nervous patients who need a little extra reassurance, we also offer IV sedation – which allows you to remain awake but feel more relaxed during the procedure.
At most, you may feel a slight pressure, but using one or both of these pain relief methods will ensure that your treatment is virtually pain-free.
In the days following your dental implant surgery, it’s totally normal to experience mild pain and discomfort when the pain relief wears off.
You may also notice some swelling, bruising or light bleeding in the first 24-48 hours after treatment.
Any pain or discomfort can be relieved with over-the-counter pain-relief medication – like paracetamol or ibuprofen.
If your symptoms don’t improve within a week, or you experience extreme symptoms, be sure to book an emergency follow-up appointment with your dentist.
The large majority of adults with loose, missing or broken teeth will be able to get All-on-4 or All-on-6 dental implants in Glasgow.
Even patients who have, in the past, been turned down for other dental implant surgeries may be suitable for All-on-4 implants, as they’re placed towards the front of the mouth in denser bone.
Generally speaking, if you’re healthy enough to undergo a routine tooth extraction, you’ll be eligible for dental implant surgery – but a consultation with our dentists is still required to determine whether or not it’s a suitable treatment for you.
During your same-day teeth consultation, our dentists will run you through all your possible treatment options and do a detailed assessment of your mouth – including X-rays and 3D scans to get an idea of the volume of bone in your jaw – to make sure that you’re suitable for the All-on-4 treatment.
The cost of your same-day teeth treatment depends on a few different things, including:
Of course, if you’re having all-on-4 implants fitted to both the upper and lower jaw, your treatment will be more expensive.
Whilst a local anaesthetic is included in the cost, IV sedation is not, and there will be additional costs if you choose this pain relief method either instead of or alongside the local anaesthetic.
Finally, if you need any of your teeth extracted before your All-on-4 procedure, this will also increase the overall price.
If you have any questions or concerns about paying for your All-on-4 Glasgow dental implants, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us today.
We’re always happy to hear from you, and will do everything we can to help!
