Let us put a smile on your face!
Staying at home is something we’ve all done this past while to do our best to keep everyone safe. It’s not been fun and we could probably all do with a holiday but, with travel likely to be on hold for the forseeable, we’ve noticed that more and more patients have decided to invest this years unused holiday budget on their dream Invisalign smile instead.
We thought we’d do a reminder post on why straight teeth are more than just beautiful
- They’re easier to clean! Your mouth is full of awkward nooks and hard to reach spaces. Food gets trapped easily and causes bacteria to build up – that why dentists recommend you floss and brush to clean it all away! When your teeth overlap, those spaces are made even more difficult to reach! When everything is tightened up and aligned the bristles are able to make contact exactly where they’re supposed to!
- Bacteria build up can cause all sorts of problems like bad breath and gum disease which can eventually lead to tooth loss.
- Crooked teeth can also cause a uneven “bite” (this is a term that dentists use to describe how the teeth of your lower jaw come together with those on your upper jaw). If your bite is off and your jaws come together in an irregular way, you can wear down the enamel on the crowns of your natural teeth.
- Many people don’t realise that a misaligned bite can also be a cause of headaches and jaw pain. Uneven pressure on the temporomandibular joints can force one side to wear down faster and this imbalance leads to discomfort, clicking and stiffness.
